Instructions for reviewers

Al-Mutawassit Journal for Human and Educational Sciences (MJHES) relies on the expertise of its reviewers to maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity and quality. As MJHES employs a Double-Blind Peer Review process, your adherence to ethical guidelines is crucial.

1. Ethical Guidelines and Confidentiality

  • Confidentiality: The submitted manuscript is a privileged document. You must treat it as confidential and not disclose any information about the submission (including its content, authors, or your decision) to anyone outside of the review process.

  • Objectivity: Your review must be objective and constructive, focusing on the quality, validity, and significance of the work. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.

  • Conflict of Interest (COI): You must declare any potential COI that would influence your assessment. If a COI exists (e.g., you are collaborating with the authors or have a competitive interest), you must notify the Editorial Office and recuse yourself.

  • Timeliness: You are expected to complete your review within the time frame specified by the journal (typically 3 to 6 weeks) to ensure an efficient publication process.

2. Double-Blind Review Procedure

  • Maintain Anonymity: Under the double-blind system, you must not attempt to identify the authors, and you must avoid including any personal identifying information in your review comments, such as your name or affiliation.

  • Focus on Content: Your assessment should be based solely on the scientific merit, relevance, and clarity of the manuscript.

3. Key Review Criteria

When assessing a manuscript, please consider the following criteria:

  • Scope and Relevance: Does the research fall within the scope of MJHES (Human and Educational Sciences)?.

  • Originality and Contribution: Is the research original, innovative, and does it address an important question in the field? Is the information new and not previously published?.

  • Methodology: Is the research approach clearly stated, appropriate, accurate, and up-to-date? Is there sufficient detail for the work to be replicated?.

  • Results and Conclusions: Are the results presented clearly? Are the conclusions justified and sufficiently compelling to warrant publication?.

  • Literature Review: Are relevant works cited correctly? Have the authors acknowledged previous research appropriately?

  • Clarity and Language: Is the manuscript written clearly, logically, and concisely?

4. Plagiarism and Ethical Misconduct

  • Screening: While the editorial office uses Turnitin to screen for plagiarism (which must be less than 20%), you should remain vigilant for all forms of academic misconduct, including duplicate publication or self-plagiarism.

  • Reporting: If you suspect misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication, or unethical research design), you must immediately notify the editorial team.

  • Integrity: You must not use concepts or information from the article you have evaluated for your personal gain.

Thank you for contributing your valuable time and expertise to the peer review process of MJHES. Your commitment is essential to upholding the quality of scholarly communication.
